LEANDER SPORT SIGN ON INTERNATIONAL MOTORSPORT CHAMPION, NEEL JANI - Leander Sport Pvt. Ltd., the sports management company promoted by tennis legend, Leander Paes has today officially announced the signing on of international motorsport Champion Neel Jani, as part of the company’s long term commitment to grow motorsport in India. Ara Pararajasingham, Director at Leander Sport says, “Neel Jani has for some time now managed to capture the attention & awe of many – internationally and here in India. His consistent performance on the track at the cutting edge of motorsport is undeniable, but what excited us most was his connection to his Indian origin. We at Leander Sport strongly believe in Neel’s ability to capture the hearts and minds of the Indian youth in our country’s embracement and arrival at the helm of world class motorsport. I am committed to reaching the pinnacle of motorsport and when I do so, it would make me even more proud to know I have the support of India.” Neel Jani has many credits to his name including most recently, A1GP World Champion. Neel’s motorsport experience is unmatched by most with a diverse portfolio, ranging from Swiss Formula Lista Champion at age 16, to Runners up in the Formula Renault 2000 EuroCup and the Formula Renault V6 Eurocup and even his first test behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car at the age of 19. Jani joined the Red Bull Junior Team, on being identified as having great potential in 2004. Neel has also successfully driven in the GP2 series in 2005, adding 2 forward grid wins in Monza and Hungaroring, to his list of achievements. He also managed to lead most of the Nürburgring race in a clearly slower car with some effective defensive driving.In 2006 he replaced injured Nicolas Lapierre in the Silverstone and Magny-Cours races for English race team Arden. By doing this he also secured his place in the record books, being the only person to ever drive in both GP2 and F1 on the same day. Red Bull’s commitment to this young driver was once again revealed in their support of his venture in American motor racing in the Champ Car World Series in 2007 where he achieved 3 podiums, for what was deemed as one of the most successful Seasons for his team, PKV Racing. Neel then entered and soon dominated the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport, to be titled the ‘most successful driver in the history of the A1GP’ – with the most wins to his name, and even quoted as being “to A1GP what Michael Schumacher was to Formula 1” by a leading Indian journalist. Earlier this year, Neel furthered his already diverse experience with his first ever drive in the famous 24 hour Le Mans race with team Aston Martin, in where they fought in 6th place before technical problems with the car.
